National Physical & Standard Laboratory (NPSL) PCSIR is an organization of the Ministry of Science and Technology responsible for the establishment of national measurement system in Pakistan. It maintains , realize and disseminate primary measurement standards and and materials with the highest accuracy in order to provide expression of traceability of measurements to industry. R&D organizations, universities and Measure Department of the provincial governments. Towards achievement of this task, NPSL is currently upgrading its laboratories to enhance the present competence level of measurements of the Physical and chemical quantities with the help of UNIDO under a European Union funded project. NPSL is now poised to further strengthen and expand its R&D and other related activities by establishing new world-class environmentally controlled laboratories equipped with most sophisticated and state -of - the- art equipment in areas such as Laser Interferometry / wavelengths, Spectroscopy , Electromagnetism , Radio Frequency Impedance , Time & Frequency , Pyrometry , Force , Pressure and Materials characterization under yet another PSDP project worth Rs. 467 million. Under this project, NPSL envisages to establish linkages and twining arrangements with global and regional metrological organizations such as BIPM (France) , APMP , NIST (USA), PTB (Germany), NPL (UK) and also with international metrology institutes of the Asian - Pacific region to initiate joint /collaborative projects and for the training of NPSL scientists and technologists. It also intends to hire a number of senior and junior level scientists / technologists to man its new laboratories and to strengthen the existing human resource available in the organization.

Chief Scientific Officer:

Salary equivalent to BPS-20, max age 45 years
Ph.D (Physics, Chemistry ) with 10 years of experience , 05 research publications in respective areas in journals of repute.

Desired Experience in the corresponding fields such as laser spectroscopy , optical Interferometry,  thermometry , fluid dynamic , force , pressure , precision measurement , use of high  precision measuring instruments , radio frequency , microwave signals, AC / DC, High voltage, Hi-tech chemistry instrumentation such as spectroscopic techniques ( AAS, ICP / OED, XRF, XRD, FTIR) chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC-MC etc).

Senior Scientific Officer:

Salary equivalent to BPS-18, max age 35 years
Ph.D (Physics / Chemistry) or M.Sc (Engineering) in mechanical, electrical or electronics or M.Phil / M.Sc (Physics / Chemistry ) or M.Sc (Engineering) in mechanical , electrical with 05 years experience with minimum of two 1st classes and no 3rd division in academic career
Desired Experience
Precision measurements laser / optical Interferometry , radio frequency. For chemists experience is desired in the fields of analysis of materials such as ores, minerals metals monitoring of environment , air / water , waste-water, effluents , spectroscopic, techniques ( AAS, ICP / OES, ERF, FTIR) chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC-MS etc). Atomic Spectroscopy, HPLC, ICP, XRF / XRD.

Principal Scientific Officer:

Salary equivalent to BPS-19, max age 40 years Ph.D (Physics, Chemistry) with 07 years of experience Desired Experience.
Laser spectroscopy , optical Interferometry, thermometry , fluid dynamics, precision measurement such of high precision measuring instruments , radio frequency and microwave signals AC / DC, high voltage. Hi-tech chemistry instrumentation such as spectroscopic techniques (AAS, ICP/OES, XRF, XRD, FTIR) chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC-MS etc) Expertise in general / conventional chemical analytical techniques.

Scientific Officer:

Salary equivalent to BPS-17 , max age 30 years
M.Phil / M.Sc (Physics / Chemistry) / BE (Engineering) in mechanical , electrical or electronics.
Minimum two first classes with no third class in academic career.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:

• Initially the appointment will be made for a period of two years only.
