Executive Director PCP

On the successful completion of the tenure of the current Executive Director, Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy PCP invites applications for its Executive Director. Based in Islamabad, PCP is a non-profit support organization that aims to enhance the volume and effectiveness of philanthropy, by creating a more enabling environment for philanthropy promotion, strengthening civil society organizations, assisting donors by professionalizing grant-making, and raising societal awareness and understanding about the importance of giving. The Centre seeks to promote philanthropy through its various programmes, of which Research occupies a central position. PCP conducts as well as commissions studies and surveys on various dimensions of philanthropy and on the civil society sector. Evidence-based and empirical research feeds into policy dialogue and informs the Center's programmes and advocacy activities. Other mainstream programmes include Non-profit Organizations (NPOs) Certification and   Philanthropy Support Services.

The Center's 20member Board, composed of some of Pakistan's most committed and respected eminent citizens, NGO and corporate leaders, has guided the mission through a carefully planned strategy that has positioned the Centre as a facilitative catalyst to build linkages between civil society, business sector and government. The candidate should have a proven record of exceptional professional achievement at a senior level, capable of leading and inspiring the PCP team, communicating complex ideas clearly, and rising to tough challenges. He/she should have sound knowledge of public policy and social development, be familiar with the public and private sector's role in development and have the ability to interact effectively with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including civil society organizations and philanthropists.

Reporting to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead the team and bear overall responsibility for programme development and the management of the Centre, including;

  • Programme design, Implementation, finance and administration.
  • Intellectual leadership and supervision of the Center's programs.
  • Liaison with stakeholders including government and donor agencies on policy issues, funding proposals and reporting.

Qualification and Experience

Postgraduate degree, preferably in the social sciences or organisational management. A minimum of 15 years of professional experience and a demonstrated track record in pioneering work of national level impact, or beyond. A background in research, development and business is preferred, and demonstrated experience in facilitating research based policy reform is essential. Substantial experience in the strengthening of Civil Society is preferred.
