Clinical trials of new and locally developed drugs.
Process development for basic manufacture of raw materials (bulk drugs)- Traditional Medicines.

Operational Research:

Rational Drug Use: Resistance to antibiotics, prescribing patterns in Pakistan, drug utilization studies, management of drugs in common/serious diseases.
Drug Quality: Organized monitoring for quality control, monitoring of adverse reaction of drugs, therapeutic drug monitoring, dispensing practices, pharmacist role etc.
System Improvement in Drugs: Studies on cost/effectiveness of drugs, drug supply system, drug information and poison control system, to establish bio-equivalence/bio-availability centre to upgrade & establish drug research and testing labs.

Researchers to be preferred

Preference shall be given to researchers in postgraduate institutions / universities already engaged in applied and operational drug research and having linkage with Pharma Industry, PCSIR, PMRC, NIH etc.

Conditions & Procedure for Approval

Projects must be of national importance and contribute towards national economy.
Projects shall be approved after peer review by experts and recommendation of Central Research Fund Committee.

Auditing of Accounts

Accounts shall be periodically audited in accordance with approved auditing procedure.
