Announces its annual prizes

For the year 1431H/2010G

 

Science & Technology

The Science & Technology Prizes of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) were established in 1422H in recognition of the crucial role of Science and Technology as an engine of economic and social development in IDB member countries and to promote excellence in scientific research and higher education institutions in the IDB member countries.

 

Three prizes are awarded every year to deserving institutions as a reward for (i) impact on economic and social development, (ii) excellence in a given speciality field, and (iii) success of an institution in a Least Developed Member Country respectively; each prize consists of a cash award of US$ 100,000 and a trophy.

 

Women & Development

PRIZE FOR WOMEN’S CONTRIBUTION TO DEVELOPMENT IDB

The IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development was established in 1427H to reward and encourage the accomplishment of outstanding merit that was aimed at or resulted in integrating women in the development process. It recognizes women’s contribution to the socioeconomic development of the IDB member countries and the Muslim communities in non-member countries.

 

The Prize, which is a warded on a yearly basis, consists of a cash award of US$ 50,000 for an individual women and a cash award of US$ 100,000 for a non-governmental organization. Each year, the topic of the prize varies. For 1431H/2010G, the topics are as follows:

  • For Individuals: Young Women’s Development.
  • For Organizations: Female Youth Development.

The deadline for receiving the completed and documented applications at the IDB Headquarters is 22nd Safar 1431H corresponding to 7th February 2010G.

 

The prizes will be awarded tot eh winners during the forthcoming 35th Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 11- 12 Rajab 1431H (23-24 June 2010G).
