TROPHY HUNTING IN GILGIT-BALTISTAN, PAKISTAN
The Forest & Wildlife
Department Gilgit-Baltistan (Pakistan) on behalf of the local Communities
officers the following trophy hunting permits for open auction, conditional to
be availed in the designated community controlled Hunting Areas of Gilgit,
Skardu, Diamer, Hunza/Nagar, Ghizer, Ghanche & Astore Districts during the
forthcoming hunting season 2010-11 be commenced from October 1st 2010 to April 20th 2011.

Through this auction, expert
hunters, experienced outfitters, tourism companies and individuals are invited
to participate in the auction process scheduled to he held in the office of the
Divisional Forest Officer (Wildlife) Gilgit-Baltistan on 20th October 2010. The bid will be opened for auction in
the presence of bidders or their representatives at 10:00 AM Sharp.
All interested hunters,
outfitters, companies and individuals are informed to deposit US$ 2500 FOR
Himalayan Ibex, as call deposit in the name of DFO Wildlife Gilgit-Baltistan
prior to participate in the auction. Interested Pakistani nationals can deposit
a sum of Rs. 80,000/- as call deposit for Ibex only. Successful bidders will be
intimated instantly. However successful hunters, outfitters, companies and
individuals are required to confirm their acceptance of availing the trophy
hunting permits by depositing the non refundable bid money in the name of
Divisional Forest Officer Wildlife Gilgit-Baltistan on or before 30th October, 2010.
- Hunters to pay the Big Game Shooting License Fee
of US $ 200 for Markhor. US $ 150 for Blue sheep and US $ 100 FOR
Himalayan Ibex in addition to above mentioned Trophy Hunting Permit Fee.
Pakistani nationals will have to pay a sum of rupees 5000/- as big game
shooting fee for all hunt able species.
- Hunting will be permissible only in the
designated Community Controlled Hunting Areas (CCHA) or Game Reserves from
1st October, 2010 to 20th April, 2011 as per days specified in the given hunting
- Hunters, Outfitters, Companies and individuals
will have to deposit the bid money (in either currencies) in the given
account of the Gilgit-Baltistan Forest & Wildlife Department by 30th October 2010, failing which the permit will be offered to
the next qualifying bidder.
- Permits for all species and locations will be
granted on first come first serve basis.
- Highest bidder will be given preference of
choice for location to hunt followed by the rest of qualifying bidders.
- The trophy hunting fee shall not be refunded in
case if the hunter misfires or fail to hunt the spotted animal. However,
in case of critical law and order situation and inevitably harsh climatic
conditions, the deposited hunting fee shall be retained in favor of the
hunter for the next hunting season, but he will have to pay the additional
amount as per the prevailing market rates.
- Eighty percent of the total trophy hunting fee
shall go the host community in appreciation for their efforts to protect
wildlife and its habitant.
- Successful hunters will be encouraged to make
personal donations to the Valley Conservation Funds, managed by the

- Hunters will have to collect their hunting
permits in person from the office of DFO (Wildlife) Gilgit-Baltistan after
being briefed about the trophy hunting rules regulations.
- Outfitters will not be allowed to accompany the
hunters in the field. However Gilgit-Baltistan Forest & Wildlife
Department will provide Guides and Game Watchers on daily wages basis.
- Hunters are expected to report to the DFO
(Wildlife) in person after hunting is over and will present their trophies
for examination prior to leaving the area conditionally to grant an NOC
for the CITIES Export Permit to carry trophics outside the country.
- CITIES Export Permits will be issued by the
Ministry of Environment Government of Pakistan for hunted trophies on
recommendation of Gilgit-Baltistan Wildlife Department and presentation of
the CITIES import permit.
- The community will be responsible to take the
hunter on hunting site under the supervision of field staff of Wildlife
Division Gilgit-Baltistan. The hunter is bound to hunt the animal after
spotting the trophy. If the hunter will not hunt the spotted trophy then
50% of the hunting fee will be forfeited in favour of the community and
Government which will be dispersed according to the Government policy.

Gilgit-Baltistan carries no responsibility for any accident, sickness,
falling down or death of the hunter or their guides during the process of

right to accept or reject tenders for trophy hunting permits, without
assigning any reason.
