DEVELOPMENT ECONOMIST

The candidates International Development Agency's (CIDA) Program Support Unit is seeking a senior

professional as a Development Economist.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of five years experience in economic analysis and / or research or in related area.
• Knowledge of Pakistan's Structural Reforms  Program, Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRSP), Economic Recovery Program; Debt Management Strategy.
• Knowledge of integrated Economic and Social analysis and reporting;
• Knowledge of federal, provincial and district relations, particularly in regards to fiscal governance, fiscal decentralization and devolution, Including institution building and capacity development.
• Strong Computer skills in a window-baswed environment, including  electronic research tools.
• Very strong research, analytical and organizational capacities.
• Effective communication skills in English and Urdu (written and oral knowledge of French will be an asset;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Provide advice and prepare reports on economic development issues for the Canadian High Commission;

QUALIFICATION

A Masters degree in Development Economics or Masters in Economics

ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated ability to work in a research, analytical and advisory roles.
• Ability to coordinate conflicting priorities within tight deadlines
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment .
• Ability to communicate quickly and clearly and in writing.
• Ability to monitor and report on a variety of macro, political and development issues.
• Ability to represent Canada and Canadian points of view at government international donor, private sector, and civil society meetings, including bilateral consultation, and on specific Canada financed development projects.
