EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Citizens Network for Foreign Affairs (CNFA) is implementing a 3 year USAID funded "Improving livelihoods and Enterprise Development " (ILED) programme in the earthquake affected areas of Kaghan and Siran Valleys in Mansehra District and Bagh District of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Farmers of kaghan and Siran valleys rely heavily on Potato production, which is a key cash crop of the area. CNFA plans to work in this sector to introduce quality seed, new varieties of seed; improve production levels and introduce storage facilities throughout the area.

CNFA seeks applications from qualified individuals / organizations in anticipation of the work , during the project life, in the following areas;

1. Service Providers:

Resource persons / organizations needed with prior experience working with farmers in seed production, development  and delivering training programs , introducing new technologies and techniques and forming associations.

2. Construction of Storage Facilities

Construction companies experienced in undertaking construction of underground storage cellars needed Due to favorable climatic conditions, high altitude and cold snowy winters the largest potato production area of the Kaghan valley , Batakundi will be the main focus of this activity. A number of small-scale, non-refrigerated , insulated storage facilities (20- 25 Mt) will be constructed using indigenous materials and building techniques , avoiding storage system that require high initial construction costs as well as high energy consumption. Approximately 1000 Mt of total storage capacity will be needed.
