The role/objective of the Sr.IT officer is:

To provide technical assistance to computer system users and resolve computer related problems and to provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, network and operating systems.

Specific tasks of the Sr. IT officer are:

To be responsible for the installation and upgrade of computer hardware or software.
To develop system network, including back up and security systems.
To design and establish an office intranet and provide adequate support of users.
To monitor network usage and ensure upgrades whenever necessary with prior approval of the line manager.
To be responsible for keeping up to date the asset database every month.
To be able to balance priorities between system developments and maintenance of existing operations.
To be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
To be able to provide assistance to users with hands on trouble shooting tasks (installing software or answering IT queries).
To develop training materials and procedures, and to train users in the proper use of hardware and software.
To install and perform minors repairs to hardware, software and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
To oversee the daily performance of computer systems.
To evaluate the organization's technology use and needs and recommend improvements, such as hardware and software.
To consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
To be responsible for the wireless network within Merlin.
To perform any additional tasks as per requirement of the line manger.

Essential Requirements are:

Bachelor Degree in information technology, information systems or computer science.
Fluent English speakers with good communication skills.
Skills in reading and writing reports in English.
Good organizational skills and ability to manage own time.
At least Three Years of Experience in Computer and network support including Windows programs Excel, Word, Outlook, LAN, WAN and wireless networks.
Hands on experience supporting satellite equipment such as RBGAN, BGAB, Thuraya, INMARSAT.
Strong leadership skills and ability to work under stressful conditions.
Ability to assist on the management of security in an extremely volatile security situation in good relations with team mat.
