Senior Program Officer Women's Empowerment

The Asia Foundation (TAF), a non profit, international, non-governmental organization, is seeking an experienced professional, for the position of Senior Program Officer (SPO), Women's Empowerment. This full-time position will be based in Islamabad with travel to other areas; the SPO reports to the Directors programs. Candidates should be developments professionals with technical expertise in gender, and a minimum of 5 years experience in the development sector, working with non-government organization, government and/ or donor organizations. Applicants must have an in-depth understanding of gender issues in Pakistan and of overall development issues. The senior Program Officer will be responsible for leading and designing a comprehensive program addressing issues related to women's empowerment and gender equality, and for the overall management of projects including technical oversight, administration, fiscal management., and grants management to assure quality, impact, and cost effectiveness.

Job Description

The Senior Program Officer will be responsible for managing TAF / Pakistan's women's empowerment programs, both regional and country-specified by:

  • Supporting partners in enhancing women's legal, economic, social, and political empowerment, including monitoring and evaluation of projects.
  • Financial management and review of projects, including preparation of grant agreements and budgets.
  • Providing technical support to other TAF programs and integration of gender across all TAF programs.
  • Identification and pursuit of new programming and funding opportunities
  • Writing reports and proposals and contributing to research projects.

Requirements

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in gender studies or social sciences
  • 5-10 years of experience of working in the area of gender and/ or relevant development in Pakistan
  • Proficiency in writing reports and other relevant program documents
  • Fluency in English and Urdu and good communications skills
