United Nations development programme explore a leading career with UNDP Pakistan as assistant country director, crisis prevention and recovery (CPR)
The UNDP Pakistan country office is seeking applications from highly competent and experienced individuals for a fixed term post of assistant country director (ACD), crisis prevention and recovery unit at the salary grade of NOD level.
The crisis prevention and recovery portfolio is one of the country officer’s largest portfolios.
Strengthening the resilience of communities and governments is at the core of this portfolio.
This is a challenging and exciting role for someone who is interested in leading a large team of national and international staff in the work of preventing the negative impacts of disasters and conflicts in Pakistan through building the resilience of communities and governments.
Navigating the complex environment of how vulnerable communities in Pakistan can prepare and cope better with disasters will be at the forefront of your work.
You will lead on strategies and interventions that explore the complex causes of armed violence and work in partnership with governments and civil society to develop interventions that offer youth in Pakistan alternate pathways to violence.
The CAD will work under the guidance of the country director and the direct supervision of the deputy country director programme and will serve as a manager and advisor to the country office (CO) senior management on crisis prevention and recovery.
Your experience in dealing with disasters and / or conflicts at the policy and governance level will strengthen UNDP’s interventions on the ground.
You will provide help to the programme to better for disasters and to prevent the negative impacts of conflict.
You will lead the team in finding creative responses to complex emerging challenges and opportunities with a view of increasing programme impacts for positive change.
Interested candidates should have masters degree in conflict management disaster risk reduction human rights, development studies, business administration, public administration, economics, political sciences, social sciences or a related field.
We are looking for candidates with relevant experience at the national or international level in the crisis prevention and recovery field; strong management capabilities; proven networking and partnership building skills; and the ability to analyze and strategize how to cope with complex challenges in the field of disasters and conflict.
